Geana is a registered nurse with a focus on critical care. She received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington and her Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Washington. Geana received her Critical Care Certification in 2019. She is currently working as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department.
She is the mother of Ronin, a child with Cockayne syndrome. When she learned about his diagnosis, Geana made it her mission to help improve the lives of children with CS as well as lending support to their families. Since then, she has advocated for medically fragile children in New York State, created the Family Resource Program, has been a speaker at medical conferences and was interviewed by DNA Today, a genetics podcast. Geana received the 2025 Women of Distinction Trailblazer Award for her advocacy and support efforts for the Cockayne Syndrome community.
Geana lives in Upstate New York with her husband, Chris, their son, Ronin, and their fur babies – Lana (a polydactyl rescue cat) and their Make-A-Wish Bernese Mountain Dog, Amaretti.
